Wailing as military buries 22 officers killed by bandits

It was a scene of wailing by relations as the Nigerian Armed Forces laid to rest 22 officers killed in Niger State in a fierce exchange of gunfire with bandits.

Heads of serving military officers were also bowed during the interment at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja on Friday.

The Defence Headquarters had acknowledged that over 36 officers were killed in the confrontation with on August 14, including officers on air mission.

Defence Headquarters had earlier sent out notice of the event.

The rank and file of the Nigerian Armed Forces are present, as well as the families of the deceased.
The Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba; Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa; and other service chiefs, were present at the ceremony.

The deceased were celebrated as #fallenheroes.
