Omokri said that Rufai threatened his life because he insisted that President Bola Tinubu attended Chicago State University.
The President’s Chicago university credential has been generating controversies over the years. The controversies became heightened as he became President after the 2023 general elections.
Omokri, in his alarmist statement, declared:

“After I Exposed Him As a Liar, Rufai Oseni Called My Brother and Threatened My Life, Because I Insisted Tinubu Attended Chicago State University.”
He posted a purported telephone conversation with the picture of Rufai Oseni, relaying Rufai’s statement as: “…Because if I want to be deadly, I will take your brother out in less than three minutes.”
Omokri has, since the victory of President Tinubu in the 2023 general elections, been most inconsistent in his commentaries about Nigeria, dangling from what he was known for to leaning towards the government in power, in this case, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He sensationally converted himself to apostle of patriotism and ‘Nigeriana’ nationalism. His fall out with Rufai on the controversial issue is not unexpected to many.
Omokri had also stated:
Meanwhile, many are asking the question: “who lied on the Chicago Certificate controversy – Reno Omokri or Rufai Oseni?
