The operation to neutralize ISIS Leader Al Qurashi has so far elicited lots of similarities to the Pakistan operation that killed AL Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
According to a report by a local daily, the operation to kill Qurashi had been rehearsed in detail several times. The US commandos had trained for every possibility from surrender to a firefight.“One of our main concerns was that he would kill himself and the structure would collapse killing everyone else in the building,” said a senior military official.
According to US officials, Qurashi was killed just 15 kilometers (nine miles) north of where Qurashi’s IS predecessor, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was neutralized.
According to the report, there was a major mishap during the operation after one of the helicopters that delivered the commandos to the location developed mechanical problems and was forced to crash land a nearby field.
According to a US source, the Helicopter was immediately destroyed which was a similar incident to the 2011 raid on the Pakistan compound of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. During the operation, a Special Operations helicopter crash-landed and also had to be destroyed.
It has now been revealed that both helicopters were destroyed due to the sensitive technology they carried.
