APC Bars Banigo, three others from Rivers Senatorial primaries, clears Onyesoh, Obua, Mwara
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified the senator representing Rivers West, Ipalibo Banigo, from participating in its senatorial primary election scheduled for Monday.
The party also barred three other aspirants from contesting in the forthcoming primary. They include former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Wenike Danagogo; former local government chairman, Ojukaye Flag Amachree; and businessman and oil magnate, Tein Jack-Rich.

However, the APC cleared Senator Allwell Onyesoh of Rivers East to contest in the primary. Other aspirants approved to participate include Felix Obua, Barry Mwara and Osarosaka Ebenezer.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chibuike Ikenga. Ikenga urged all aspirants and party members to take note of the list of cleared and disqualified aspirants and to comply with the party’s directive ahead of the primary election.
While the party did not immediately provide detailed reasons for the disqualification of Banigo and the three other aspirants, political observers say the move could significantly reshape the contest in Rivers West and influence the broader dynamics of the party’s internal race in the state.
The primaries are expected to determine the APC’s standard-bearers for the upcoming senatorial elections, with party stakeholders closely monitoring the process amid heightened political activity in Rivers State.
