A medical doctor, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, has died following complications shortly after giving birth to triplets in Bayelsa State.
Dr. Ogbachi delivered the babies at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) in Okolobiri, Yenagoa. The delivery was reported to have been successful, but she subsequently developed medical complications.
According to her brother, Meshack Sintei, who announced the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday, she was immediately referred to the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa for advanced care.
At the facility, a team of doctors and specialists reportedly worked to stabilise her condition and save her life. Despite the efforts of the medical team, she passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Her death has plunged her family, friends, colleagues and the wider medical community into mourning, casting a shadow over what had been a moment of celebration with the birth of her three children.
Tributes have continued to pour in from associates who described her as a dedicated professional and compassionate individual whose life was cut short at a time of great promise.
