FAAN meets international airlines to improve airport operations, passenger experience
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has held a strategic meeting with members of the International Airlines Association of Nigeria (IAAN) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen airport operations, improve protocol services, and enhance passenger experience across the country’s international terminals.
The engagement brought together FAAN management officials and representatives of several international carriers operating in Nigeria to discuss operational challenges, service delivery standards, and areas requiring closer collaboration between airport authorities and airline operators.
According to FAAN, the meeting forms part of a broader initiative aimed at modernising airport processes and improving efficiency within Nigeria’s aviation sector. Discussions reportedly focused on passenger facilitation, terminal coordination, security procedures, and protocol management at major international airports.
FAAN officials emphasized the importance of maintaining strong partnerships with international airlines, noting that smoother operational coordination would help reduce delays, improve passenger satisfaction, and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a key aviation hub in West Africa.
Industry stakeholders also highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, better communication channels between airlines and airport authorities, and streamlined operational procedures to address recurring challenges faced by travelers.
The International Airlines Association of Nigeria, which represents foreign carriers operating in the country, welcomed the engagement and expressed support for collaborative measures aimed at improving service standards and operational efficiency.
The meeting comes amid increased focus on Nigeria’s aviation sector following recent regulatory enforcement actions by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and growing calls for reforms to improve airport infrastructure, safety oversight, and customer experience.
FAAN has repeatedly stated that improving passenger comfort, reducing operational bottlenecks, and aligning Nigeria’s airports with international best practices remain central to its ongoing transformation agenda.
