Four killed, 13 critically injured as truck rams bus on Lagos Bridge
Four people, including a commercial bus driver, have been killed in a collision between a truck and a fully loaded commercial bus on Alaro City Bridge, inward T-Junction, Epe, Lagos State.
The truck driver also lost both legs in the crash, while 13 passengers sustained critical injuries.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, saying the collision occurred on the single-lane bridge and left several victims trapped in the wreckage.
According to the agency, the impact of the collision caused severe damage to both vehicles, trapping victims and complicating rescue efforts.
“The truck driver also suffered grievous bodily trauma, sustaining the traumatic severance of both legs, which became trapped within the mangled wreckage following the collision,” LASTMA said.
LASTMA operatives, working with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), evacuated the bodies of the four deceased victims to a mortuary.
The Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) transported the 13 critically injured passengers to the nearest medical facility for emergency treatment.

Personnel from the Epe Police Division also supported the rescue operation by securing the scene and ensuring that emergency responders could carry out their duties in an orderly manner.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, describing the loss of lives as deeply distressing.
He sympathised with the bereaved families and wished the injured victims a speedy and full recovery.
Bakare-Oki urged motorists to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations, particularly when navigating bridges, narrow roads and other restricted sections where dangerous driving could have devastating consequences.
Meanwhile, LASTMA said it had introduced traffic management measures along the affected corridor to ease congestion, regulate vehicle movement and gradually restore normal traffic flow.
The agency added that its officers remained on the route to manage the resulting traffic backlog and ensure the orderly movement of vehicles.
LASTMA reiterated its commitment to road safety and prompt emergency response through collaboration with relevant security and emergency management agencies.
It also urged motorists to observe speed limits, maintain safe following distances and avoid dangerous manoeuvres, especially on bridges and narrow roads where a moment of recklessness could result in fatalities.
