FRSC Special Marshals Unit 109 sensitises 1,000 students on road safety in Maryland
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals Unit 109, Ojota, has organised a road safety sensitisation programme for approximately 1,000 students in Maryland, Lagos State, as part of efforts to promote responsible road use among young people.
The initiative was aimed at educating students on road safety practices, preventing traffic-related accidents and encouraging them to develop responsible attitudes towards the use of roads.
The programme also aligns with the FRSC’s broader strategy of promoting road safety awareness among children and young people through its educational initiatives and school-based Road Safety Clubs.
According to the FRSC, its Road Safety Club programme is designed to instil good road-use habits in younger generations through regular training, workshops, public enlightenment campaigns and other educational activities.
The initiative reflects the importance of early road safety education in reducing accidents and building a culture of responsible driving, pedestrian awareness and respect for traffic regulations.
The FRSC Special Marshals are the volunteer arm of the Corps, comprising individuals who support road safety advocacy, public enlightenment and other activities aimed at improving safety on Nigerian roads.
In a related initiative, the FRSC Ojota Command inducted 17 students of Emerald Grammar School, Lagos, into its Safety Club during the 2025 Children’s Day celebration to encourage young people to promote road safety in their schools and communities.
The Unit 109 sensitisation programme in Maryland forms part of broader efforts to involve students and communities in promoting safer roads and reducing preventable road crashes.
