BREMEN, Germany- Harry Kane scored twice in the first half as Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-0 victory at Werder Bremen on Saturday, restoring their six-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga table.

The England captain netted his 25th and 26th league goals of the season, with Leon Goretzka adding a third in the 70th minute as Bayern responded emphatically to Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 win over Mainz on Friday, which had temporarily cut the gap to three points.

Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after VAR confirmed Lennart Karl had fouled inside the box. It marked the third consecutive match the striker had given Bayern the lead from 12 yards.

Three minutes later, Kane doubled the advantage with a low shot from the edge of the box that found the right post. The clinical display took his tally to 41 goals in all competitions this season, 13 from penalties.

Bayern captain Manuel Neuer was substituted at half-time with a recurring calf injury. Still, Bremen’s hopes of a comeback were dashed when Goretzka swept home with 20 minutes remaining, despite Marco Gruell hitting the post shortly after the restart.

Hoffenheim Surge Continues

Hoffenheim tightened its grip on third place with a 3-0 home victory over Freiburg, extending its remarkable resurgence. The village club, which finished one place above the relegation playoff spot last season, has lost just twice in its past 16 league matches, both defeats coming against Bayern and Dortmund.

Leverkusen Maintain Top-Four Push

Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen secured fourth spot with a 4-0 thrashing of St Pauli, registering their fifth win in six games. Jarell Quansah and Patrik Schick scored within two minutes of each other in the first half before Edmond Tapsoba and Ernest Poku added second-half strikes.

Eintracht Frankfurt beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-0 for new coach Albert Riera’s first victory, while Hamburg came from behind to defeat Union Berlin 3-2.
