INEC fixes September 19 for five by-elections in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, Delta
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled September 19, 2026, for the conduct of five by-elections across four states.
The elections will be held in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states and will cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Tunde Oketola, disclosed the schedule in an interview with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Oketola, the federal constituency election will be conducted in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.
The four state constituency elections will take place in Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency in Delta State, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
The September 19 polls are expected to provide eligible voters in the affected constituencies an opportunity to elect new representatives to fill the vacant seats.
INEC is expected to release further details on the electoral timetable and arrangements ahead of the by-elections.
