The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.

The arrests followed what the police described as an intelligence-led operation conducted by tactical operatives on August 29, 2026. The suspects were reportedly tracked and apprehended as part of efforts to dismantle the syndicate.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, officers recovered three locally made firearms and eight rounds of ammunition from the suspects.

The recovered weapons comprised two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The Lagos Command said the suspects are believed to be members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the area. Investigators are continuing efforts to establish the full extent of their alleged activities and identify other members of the group.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation.

Police authorities said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate.

The arrests form part of a wider series of intelligence-led operations reported by the Nigeria Police Force across several states between August 29 and 30, targeting armed robbery, kidnapping, banditry and other forms of violent crime.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. As with all criminal allegations, they are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
