Crime Lawyer defending accused in IPOB hotbed gunned down Published 5 years ago on September 16, 2021 By Editor A lawyer defending some accused persons in Orlu, Imo, has been killed by hoodlums yet to be identified. Darlington Odume aka Omekagu was shot inside a supermarket at Amaifeke, Orlu on September 15. The assailants entered the supermarket, walked up to him, and shot him in the chest. Then they got on their motorcycles, and sped off. By-standers rushed him to a hospital in the area but was rejected and referred to the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu. Omekagu was representing some of those in court in the violence-prone Orlu. IPOB and federal security agencies have been clashing mostly in the area. The state police command’s spokesperson Michael Abattam has confirmed the incident, adding investigation has commenced to apprehend the killers.
