A horrific shooting incident in Shreveport, United States, has left eight children dead and several others injured after a gunman opened fire at multiple homes in what authorities described as a domestic-related attack.
The violence erupted in the early hours of Sunday in the Cedar Grove neighbourhood, where police reported that at least 10 people were shot across two residences and surrounding areas.
The victims who lost their lives were children between the ages of one and 14, making the tragedy one of the deadliest incidents involving minors in the city’s history.
Law enforcement officials said the suspect, an adult male believed to have personal connections to some of the victims, carried out the shootings before fleeing the scene. Authorities disclosed that he later hijacked a vehicle, prompting a police chase that extended into neighbouring Bossier Parish.
The pursuit ended when officers confronted the suspect, who was subsequently shot and killed by law enforcement. Police have not released further details about the confrontation but confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Two adult women survived the attack but sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. A young boy was also injured while attempting to escape the violence and is reportedly in stable condition.
