Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid are reportedly preparing for a major squad reshuffle this summer, with one of their attacking superstars — Kylian Mbappé or Vinícius Júnior — potentially heading for the exit door.

According to French publication L’Equipe, the LaLiga giants are increasingly concerned that the much-anticipated partnership between Mbappé and Vinícius has failed to deliver the desired balance and cohesion in attack.

Despite the individual brilliance of both forwards, club insiders reportedly believe the duo’s playing styles have not blended effectively enough to produce consistent team success.

Mbappé is currently in only his second season at the Santiago Bernabéu after joining Madrid as a free agent from Paris Saint-Germain.

The French forward enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, netting 44 goals across all competitions. However, his prolific scoring was not enough to secure silverware, as Los Blancos ended the season without a major trophy — a rare outcome for the Spanish giants.

Vinícius, meanwhile, has been part of the Madrid setup for over a decade, having joined the club in 2013. Over the years, the Brazilian winger developed into one of the team’s most influential figures and was widely regarded as the club’s talisman during key phases of recent seasons.

However, reports suggest that his performances and statistical output have dipped following his failure to clinch the 2024 Ballon d’Or award. Observers have noted a decline in both his goal contributions and overall impact in big matches.

With Portuguese tactician José Mourinho widely expected to assume managerial duties, any decision regarding a potential high-profile departure is likely to involve his input. Sources indicate that Mourinho will be consulted before the club finalises plans for any major shake-up in the squad.

Should Madrid proceed with the sale of either Mbappé or Vinícius, it would mark one of the most significant transfer decisions in recent club history — and potentially reshape the balance of power in European football ahead of the new season.
