Concern is growing over the whereabouts of a 37-year-old Nigerian woman who reportedly became unreachable after arriving in Doha, Qatar, with a senior official of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority seeking information that could help establish her location.

Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, raised the matter in a public appeal, saying the woman had been unreachable for about 72 hours after exiting the airport in Doha.

The circumstances surrounding her disappearance were not immediately clear, and it was not established whether she was travelling to Qatar for work, business, tourism or another purpose.

Achimugu’s intervention comes amid growing concern over the welfare of Nigerian travellers who encounter difficulties abroad.

The NCAA official did not indicate that the woman had been confirmed dead or that any criminal incident had been established in connection with her disappearance. Her whereabouts remained unknown at the time of the appeal.

The case has prompted efforts to determine what happened after the woman left the airport.

Details such as the airline she travelled with, her flight number, accommodation arrangements and the circumstances in which communication with her stopped were not immediately available in publicly accessible reports.

Authorities and people familiar with her movements are expected to provide further information as efforts to locate her continue.

Achimugu has previously become involved in cases involving Nigerian passengers experiencing difficulties on international routes.

In September 2025, he publicly criticised Qatar Airways over a case involving a Nigerian passenger who was detained in Doha following an allegation made by a cabin crew member. The NCAA subsequently warned the airline over alleged violations of Nigeria’s passenger-protection regulations.

More recently, Achimugu has also been involved in efforts by the NCAA to improve baggage tracking at Nigerian airports. In August 2026, he announced plans for the introduction of Radio Frequency Identification technology to improve the tracking of checked baggage from check-in through collection.

However, the reported disappearance of the 37-year-old woman is different from a conventional aviation consumer complaint because it concerns her whereabouts after she had reportedly exited the airport.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance remain unclear, and further information from her family, the relevant authorities in Qatar or the Nigerian authorities could help establish her last known location and movements.
