NNPC records N7.2trn profit as 2025 earnings rise by 33%

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) recorded a profit after tax of N7.2 trillion in 2025, representing a 33 per cent increase from the N5.4 trillion recorded in the previous year.

Despite the rise in profit, the company’s revenue declined by 23.4 per cent during the period.

According to reports published on Tuesday, NNPC also remitted N22.3 trillion to the Federal Government and supplied 278.2 million barrels of crude oil to refineries during the year. 

The latest financial performance comes amid ongoing changes in Nigeria’s petroleum industry, including efforts to increase domestic refining and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.

NNPC officials have also highlighted the company’s efforts to strengthen its operational efficiency and improve the performance of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The reported increase in profit comes as Nigeria continues to rely heavily on petroleum revenues while pursuing reforms aimed at attracting investment and expanding domestic energy production.
