Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has been admitted to an operating theatre as medical specialists intensify efforts to treat his reported stage-four cancer diagnosis.
The latest development was disclosed by actress Toyosi Adesanya in an Instagram post, where she expressed optimism about the actor’s treatment and recovery.
According to Adesanya, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, had reached out to cancer specialists to help secure medical attention for the actor.
“Senator Yayi personally reached out to top cancer specialists, and we are grateful to learn that Ogogo has now been admitted to the operating theatre for treatment,” she wrote.
The actress called on Nigerians to continue praying for the veteran actor, expressing hope that the procedure would be successful.
“We pray for a successful procedure, complete recovery, renewed strength and many more years of good health for our beloved Nollywood legend,” she added.
Family Reveals Cancer Diagnosis
Concern over Ogogo’s health became public after his daughters, Kira and Lima, disclosed that the actor was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for assistance in connecting the family with medical specialists.

Kira said the family became aware of the severity of his condition approximately three weeks earlier after medical examinations reportedly showed that the cancer had spread to his abdomen.
She explained that some hospitals subsequently informed the family that chemotherapy was no longer considered a viable treatment option.
The family, however, clarified that their immediate priority was not financial donations but access to experienced cancer specialists who could independently assess the actor’s condition and explore possible treatment options.
Senator Yayi Offers Support
Adesanya credited Senator Adeola with helping the family establish contact with cancer specialists following the public appeal.
Ogogo’s daughters had previously acknowledged Adeola’s financial contribution towards their father’s medical treatment.
Lima also said the senator had pledged to continue supporting the family with the actor’s medical expenses.
The intervention has provided the family with renewed hope as medical teams work to determine the most appropriate course of treatment for the veteran actor.
Nollywood Rallies Around Ogogo
The actor’s health condition has triggered an outpouring of support from colleagues and admirers across the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Nollywood stars including Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola and Bimbo Oshin have joined calls for prayers and support for the veteran actor.
Adesanya also thanked Nigerians who have responded to the family’s appeal by offering prayers, medical suggestions and other forms of assistance.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has prayed, offered suggestions, shared the appeal and shown concern for Ogogo,” she said.
“Ogogo, we are standing with you. You will come out stronger!”
Ogogo, a veteran of the Yoruba-language film industry, has enjoyed a decades-long career in Nollywood and remains one of the prominent figures in Nigerian cinema.
As he undergoes treatment, his family, colleagues and supporters are continuing to hope for a successful procedure and recovery.
