Oyakhilome declares October ‘Month of Mercies,’ says Believers will experience God’s Favour
…Urges Christians to live by the spirit, remain conscious of their blessings and trust in God’s covenant kindness
Rev. Chris Oyakhilome has declared October 2026 the “Month of Mercies,” assuring believers that they would experience what he described as the covenant kindness and visceral compassion of God throughout the month. He spoke during the October edition of the Global Communion Service on Sunday
Oyakhilome, who based his message on several biblical passages including John 3:1-7, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and Psalm 25:6, urged Christians to look beyond physical circumstances and live according to what he described as the realities of the spirit.
“There is an outward man and there is an inward man. The outward man is the flesh man. The inward man is called the hidden man of the heart,” he said.
According to him, the spiritual dimension gives believers the ability to perceive realities beyond what can be seen physically.
“The things which are seen are transient. But the things which are not seen are eternal,” Oyakhilome said.
He added that Christians who are born again have the capacity to perceive what he described as unseen spiritual realities.
“If you are born again, your spirit is recreated and you can see what man cannot see,” he said.
Oyakhilome urged believers to “live from inside out” and depend on the spirit rather than being controlled by circumstances.
“And if we live by the spirit, we have power over the world,” he declared.
He said such spiritual confidence should enable Christians to remain calm in the face of adversity.
“So no matter what happens in this world, you are unperturbed, unmoved and unafraid because you know you are a victor from the spirit,” he said.
‘Carry the blessing of growth into October’
The minister also reminded believers that the blessings associated with September, which he described as the “month of growth,” should continue into the new month.
“Every blessing that comes in each month must not pass with the month. Take it along with you. The blessing of growth goes with you into October,” he said.
He encouraged believers to maintain an awareness of their blessings, saying: “Every day you might as well say ‘I am a blessed man/woman. I am so blessed’.”

“Be blessing conscious. Be conscious of how blessed you are and always will be,” he added.
Oyakhilome explains ‘CHESED’ and ‘RAHAM’
A major focus of the message was Oyakhilome’s explanation of two Hebrew concepts associated with God’s mercies — CHESED, which he described as covenant kindness, and RAHAM, which he described as God’s visceral compassion.
Explaining CHESED, he said it represents God’s commitment to remain favourable to His people according to His covenant.
“Where God binds himself with his own word to be favorable to you. He chooses to be favorable to you by Covenant that He cannot break,” he said.
“He has to be favorable to you.”
Oyakhilome said believers should therefore not be consumed by fear of opposition or the actions of people who may wish them harm.
“And nobody can spoil your thing. You never have to worry that somebody somewhere doesn’t like you or is working against you. It doesn’t matter. By virtue of his covenant kindness you are going to be successful anyway because He is with you and For you,” he said.
He described RAHAM as a different expression of God’s mercy, pointing to Isaiah 49:15.
“Raham is the organic compassion of God. it has something to do with the word womb,” he said.
Using the natural bond between a mother and her child to illustrate his point, Oyakhilome said God’s compassion toward His children is instinctive.
“He loves and protects you because you are his child. Before he reasons it, He responds to you,” he said.
“Our God has visceral compassion,” he added.
“The Organic mercies of God that spring to action just because you are his child. He can’t just watch you suffer or go down. He will reach out to you.”
‘You are going to walk in God’s mercies this month’
Oyakhilome subsequently declared October the “Month of Mercies,” telling participants that they would experience both CHESED and RAHAM in their lives.
“This month is the month of Mercies,” he said.
“You are going to experience the CHESED AND RAHAM Mercies of God towards you.. in your life.”
Citing the experiences of Jacob in Genesis 32:10 and the Israelites in Nehemiah 9, he described God’s mercy as capable of multiplying blessings and providing protection.
“The mercies of God multiplies you,” he said.
He further assured believers of God’s continuing protection, saying: “When you are born again, you were baptized unto him in that holy Ghost cloud. You are protected of God.”
Concluding his message, Oyakhilome emphasized the daily nature of God’s mercy.
“His mercies are new and fresh every day,” he said.
“You didn’t finish the one of yesterday yet a new one is there today. Just because you didn’t expens the previous ones doesn’t mean he doesn’t give you a new one every time you wake up.”
He prayed that believers would experience God’s mercies in their homes, finances and every area of their lives, with the blessings becoming abundant throughout October.
“What a life he’s given us. Great Grace!” Oyakhilome declared.
He concluded with a call for believers to approach life with confidence: “Live with absolute confidence.”
The Global Communion Service broadcast which was translated in over 8,123 languages and 4,000 dialects of the world had billions of participants from every nation in the world.
