Oyo APC governorship candidate Alli visits rescued Oriire abduction victims

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has visited the pupils, teachers and other victims rescued from the Oriire abduction, commending President Bola Tinubu and security agencies for their efforts in securing the victims’ freedom.

The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and psychological care at the Military Hospital in Ibadan following their release after weeks in captivity.

During the visit, Senator Alli sympathised with the victims and their families, expressing gratitude to the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their professionalism, resilience and sacrifice in ensuring the successful rescue operation.

He praised President Tinubu for providing the leadership and support that made the coordinated security operation possible, noting that the successful rescue demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

The APC governorship candidate also commended the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security personnel involved in the operation for their courage and dedication.

Alli described the rescue as a source of relief to the entire state, especially to the families of the victims who had endured weeks of uncertainty and anxiety.

While interacting with the rescued pupils, teachers and other victims, the senator encouraged them to remain hopeful despite the traumatic experience they had endured, assuring them that they would continue to receive the support needed for their recovery and reintegration into normal life.

He also expressed condolences over the death of security personnel who lost their lives during the rescue mission, describing their sacrifice as a demonstration of patriotism and unwavering commitment to national service.

Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of the victims, Alli pledged continued support for their rehabilitation and recovery, while calling on governments at all levels and relevant agencies to strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents in schools and communities across Oyo State.

He further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information capable of preventing criminal activities, stressing that community participation remains critical to tackling insecurity.

The visit comes days after security operatives successfully rescued dozens of abducted pupils, teachers and other victims who had spent several weeks in captivity following their abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and trauma counselling as authorities continue investigations aimed at apprehending those responsible for the attack.
