Pastor Chris Oyakhilome announces mother’s passing at 88 [VIDEO]

Loveworld President, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has announced the passing unto glory of his beloved mother Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome at the age of 88.

Pastor Chris as he is popularly referred to made this announcement during the concluding session of the 27th edition of the Global Day of Prayer on Saturday. He paid glowing tribute to his mothe as he reflected on her influence on his life, faith, upbringing and ministry.

According to the Man of God, Deaconess Oyakhilome went to be with the Lord on Friday morning after spending her final weeks surrounded by her children and loved ones.

“Yesterday, Friday morning, my sweet mum passed on, went to be with the Lord,” Pastor Chris said.

He said the family was comforted by their Christian faith and its teaching on the eternal destination of believers.

Pastor Chris also recalled the time he spent with his mother in recent years, saying he frequently expressed his gratitude for the values and lessons she and his father instilled in him and his siblings.

He particularly thanked her for teaching him basic life skills and, more importantly, for raising the family in a Christian home.

“I said, ‘Mommy, you know, I’m so grateful to you for all the things you taught me,’” he recounted.

He said he repeatedly thanked his mother for teaching him how to brush his teeth, dress properly and, most importantly, for creating a home where he and his siblings were introduced to Jesus Christ and taught biblical values.

Pastor Chris said he had deliberately expressed his appreciation to his mother over the past six or seven years, especially as it became apparent that her time might be drawing near.

“I definitely loved my mom. She was amazing. She was so sweet,” he said, describing her as “one of a kind.”

The Christ Embassy founder also noted that he bore a strong resemblance to his mother, saying his siblings often remarked that he looked most like her.

He said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced later, explaining that the family had not yet had time to finalise the ceremonies following her death.

Deaconess Oyakhilome was a respected figure within the LoveWorld and was recognised over the years for her contributions to the growth of the organisation.

All her children are ordained ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ and are excelling in the work committed to their trust.

Big Mummy as Deaconess Oyakhilome was fondly referred to by family and admirers received at different times special commendation awards and recognitions at the ministry’s Presidential Awards in recognition of her “immense contributions” to the expansion of LoveWorld Nation.

Details of the funeral activities which will be a global celebration of life are expected.
