Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has announced a significant change to his birthday celebration date, a move widely interpreted as a symbolic break from his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
The singer made the announcement on Monday via his account on X, stating that November 18—his birth date—will no longer be observed as his celebration day.
“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” he wrote.
He further revealed that his birthday celebrations will now take place on November 30, describing the decision as personal and asking fans for understanding.

The development comes against the backdrop of a prolonged and increasingly public feud involving his twin brother Paul and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
Both Peter and Paul rose to fame as the iconic duo P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music acts. However, the group split after years of internal disputes centered on management control, financial disagreements, and accusations of betrayal.
Although the brothers staged a widely celebrated reunion in 2021, tensions soon resurfaced. Peter has since accused Paul and Jude of marginalisation and financial impropriety, while Paul has countered with claims that Peter reported them to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The conflict escalated further in June 2025 when Peter publicly declared that he had severed ties with his family, particularly his brothers, signaling a deeper breakdown in their relationship.
Observers say the decision to adopt a new birthday celebration date underscores the widening rift, marking a personal and symbolic departure from shared milestones that once defined the twin brothers’ public and private lives.
