The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three women suspected of belonging to a child-stealing syndicate and rescued three children in Ibafo, Ogun State.

The children, aged 12, 14 and 16, were reportedly found in the custody of the suspects during a police operation.

The arrests form part of the command’s efforts to disrupt criminal networks involved in child trafficking and stealing in the state.

The development comes amid increased police operations against child-stealing and trafficking networks across Ogun State. In a separate case reported in May, the Ogun Police Command also announced the arrest of suspects linked to a child-stealing syndicate and the rescue of three children in the Mowe area.

The rescued children are expected to receive appropriate care while the police continue investigations to establish how they came into the suspects’ custody and determine whether other individuals are involved in the alleged network.

The three suspects will be subjected to further investigation before being charged to court, subject to the outcome of the police inquiry.

The police have continued to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases involving missing children or suspected child trafficking to the authorities.
