Police summon Osun Senator over alleged ‘kill Accord members’ remarks

The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, to appear before investigators over remarks allegedly directing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.

In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the command directed Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12.

The police said the invitation was necessary for the senator to clarify comments attributed to him during an APC campaign programme in Ilesa.

According to the command, it received information concerning the remarks, which were considered potentially threatening, inciting and intimidating.

The police added that a video containing the alleged comments had circulated widely across social media platforms.

The invitation comes at a particularly sensitive period in Osun State, with the August 15 governorship election only days away and political activities intensifying across the state.

The police intervention has also heightened attention on the growing concerns over inflammatory campaign rhetoric and the potential for political violence ahead of the poll.

The police have yet to disclose whether the senator would face formal charges, saying the invitation was to enable him to clarify the allegations surrounding the viral video.
