Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal’s 25-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, continuing his international career under new head coach Jorge Jesus.

Jesus announced his first squad as Portugal manager on Friday, with the 41-year-old Ronaldo named among the forwards. The selection comes after Ronaldo said the 2026 FIFA World Cup would be his last, although he did not announce his retirement from international football.

Ronaldo remains Portugal’s all-time leading scorer in men’s international football, with 146 goals. He also helped the country win the 2016 European Championship and has been one of the central figures in the national team for almost two decades.

The call-up also reunites Ronaldo with Jesus, who previously coached the forward at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. Jesus left Al-Nassr to take charge of Portugal following Roberto Martinez’s departure after the 2026 World Cup.

Jesus has included several new faces in his first squad, including goalkeeper Samuel Soares, while Nuno Tavares, João Palhinha and Fábio Silva also return to the national team setup.

Portugal will begin its Nations League campaign against Wales on September 24 at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon. The European champions will then travel to Norway on September 27 before facing Denmark away on October 1. Portugal will host Norway on October 4 in the final fixture of the first international window.

Portugal are drawn in League A, Group 4,alongside Wales, Norway and Denmark.

Ronaldo’s inclusion means he remains part of Jesus’ plans as Portugal begins a new international cycle following the 2026 World Cup and looks ahead to the 2028 European Championship.
