Yamal, Güler lead Europe’s top chance creators in 2026-27 season
Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler have emerged as Europe’s leading chance creators in the 2026-27 season, according to a ranking of key passes across the continent’s top five domestic leagues.
Yamal tops the list with 30 key passes, while Güler follows closely with 28, according to statistics published by Planet Football on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The ranking covers players in the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and French Ligue 1.
A key pass is the final pass before a teammate attempts a shot at goal, making it an indicator of a player’s ability to create scoring opportunities.
Yamal’s position at the summit reflects his growing influence in Barcelona’s attack. The 19-year-old has continued to contribute through his dribbling, incisive passing and ability to open up opposing defences.
Güler, meanwhile, has established himself as a major creative presence for Real Madrid, using his vision, passing range and set-piece deliveries to create opportunities for teammates.
Despite recording 28 key passes, the Turkish international has registered two assists in the league, according to the ranking, suggesting that several of the chances he has created have not resulted in goals.
Spanish midfielder Iñigo Vicente ranks third with 25 key passes, while Italian midfielder Giacomo Calò occupies fourth place with 24.
Roma forward Paulo Dybala completes the top five with 23 key passes.
The ranking also features players from outside Europe’s most prominent clubs. Cristian Casseres of Toulouse, Amine Sbai of Angers, Florian Thauvin of Lens and David Raum of RB Leipzig are among those who have recorded 19 key passes.
Their presence highlights the contributions of players across different leagues and positions in creating attacking opportunities early in the campaign.
Yamal and Güler’s positions underline their importance to two of Spain’s biggest clubs, although the figures measure chance creation rather than goals or assists alone.
The rankings are based on cumulative key passes, meaning playing time and the number of appearances can influence a player’s total.
With much of the season still to be played, the standings could change as the campaign progresses. For now, Yamal leads the chart, with Güler close behind in the race to become one of Europe’s most productive creators.
