The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and repatriated a Chadian national wanted in connection with the alleged torture and murder of another woman in N’Djamena, Chad.

The suspect, identified as Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, was arrested by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, after allegedly fleeing Chad for Nigeria following the incident.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, Abdoulaye was wanted by Chadian authorities over the death of Nazik Mahamat Saleh, who was allegedly tortured and killed on May 3, 2026.

The Court of Appeal in N’Djamena subsequently issued an international warrant of arrest on June 22, 2026, for Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar, in connection with the case.

The police said Abdoulaye was also linked to alleged narcotics trafficking activities in Chad.

Following intelligence-sharing and coordinated tracking operations, INTERPOL NCB Abuja traced Abdoulaye to Railway Quarters in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, where she was arrested on August 5, 2026.

She was subsequently repatriated to N’Djamena on August 14 through Lomé, Togo, under established bilateral police cooperation arrangements.

The Nigeria Police said the operation was carried out in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB N’Djamena to facilitate the suspect’s return to Chad to face the judicial process.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the INTERPOL NCB Abuja operatives for what he described as their professionalism, diligence and effective coordination with their Chadian counterparts.

Disu said the successful arrest and repatriation demonstrated the Force’s commitment to ensuring that suspects wanted for serious crimes do not evade justice by crossing international borders.

He stressed the importance of international policing cooperation in tackling crimes that transcend national boundaries.

The police said the operation further demonstrates Nigeria’s willingness to use established international policing channels and partnerships to track fugitives, disrupt trans-border criminal networks and prevent wanted persons from using the country as a safe haven.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed the development in a statement issued from Force Headquarters, Abuja, on August 15, 2026.
