Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old suspected armed robber, kidnapper, and serial rapist, popularly known as “Bullet,” in a targeted intelligence-led operation in Awka.
The suspect, described by police as a high-risk offender linked to multiple violent attacks within the state capital and surrounding areas, was apprehended during a tactical raid carried out by police operatives following sustained surveillance and community intelligence.
The command also confirmed the recovery of a Beretta semi-automatic pistol and several rounds of live ammunition from the suspect at the point of arrest.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer at the state headquarters in Awka, the operation was triggered by a pattern of complaints and intelligence reports linking the suspect to a series of kidnappings and sexual assaults targeting vulnerable residents, particularly women.
Police said operatives tracked the suspect to a hideout in Awka after weeks of monitoring his movements, before moving in to arrest him without resistance.
The suspect was said to have been taken into custody along with the recovered firearm, which has since been forwarded for ballistic examination to determine possible links to other unresolved criminal cases in the state.
Security sources allege that “Bullet” operated a violent and opportunistic criminal network, using firearms to intimidate victims before abducting them and subjecting them to sexual violence in isolated locations, as well as robbing them of valuables.
Police also disclosed that the suspect has begun making useful statements to investigators as interrogations continue at the command’s anti-kidnapping and homicide units.
The Anambra State Police Command described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat violent crime and gender-based attacks in the state, noting that it reflects a shift toward intelligence-driven policing and rapid response operations.
Authorities added that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of preliminary investigations.
