Shock move brewing? Aston Villa eye surprise transfer for Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne could make a stunning free transfer to Aston Villa this summer, with the Midlands club reportedly holding internal talks about signing the departing Belgian playmaker.

Football fans could be in for a shock this summer as reports from Sky Sports suggest that Aston Villa are weighing up an audacious bid for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

The 33-year-old midfielder, a linchpin in City’s recent successes, is set to become a free agent at the end of the current season after the Premier League champions opted against renewing his contract.  

Aston Villa are understood to have already engaged in internal discussions regarding the feasibility of signing De Bruyne.

This potential move comes as a surprise, especially considering De Bruyne’s previous hints at a possible move to Major League Soccer (MLS), where he would potentially join teams like Inter Miami, Chicago Fire, D.C. United, or NYCFC.  

De Bruyne himself confirmed his impending departure from Manchester City after nearly a decade of stellar service.
The decision by the Premier League giants not to extend the Belgian international’s contract has opened the door for speculation about his next destination.
While a move to Villa would keep him in the Premier League, it remains to be seen if he would favor a switch to the Midlands club over other potential suitors.   
Intriguingly, Manchester United legend Roy Keane recently suggested that De Bruyne should consider a move to City’s fierce rivals, United.
However, a move to Villa would see him potentially link up with a club on the rise, aiming for consistent European football under Unai Emery.   
During his illustrious tenure at Manchester City, De Bruyne has amassed an impressive trophy haul, including six Premier League titles and the coveted Champions League, solidifying his status as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats.
