Tinubu hails Wike’s transformation of Abuja after 31-day project commissioning marathon
President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as the remarkable transformation of Abuja, saying the nation’s capital is witnessing unprecedented infrastructural development 50 years after its creation.
The President made the remarks during the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s grand “Thank You Dinner,” organised to celebrate the successful completion of a 31-day marathon of project inaugurations and groundbreaking ceremonies across the FCT.
Represented at the event by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu praised Wike and his team for their commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that have improved the lives of residents in Abuja and the satellite towns.
According to the President, the achievements recorded by the FCT Administration demonstrate that effective leadership is measured by visible results rather than lofty promises.
“I congratulate the Honourable Minister and his entire team for demonstrating that leadership is not measured by how loudly one announces plans, but by how clearly the people can see the results,” Tinubu said.
He added that Wike had consistently demonstrated his belief that tangible projects speak louder than political rhetoric.
“Anyone who knows Minister Wike knows that he believes roads should move faster than rumours, and that the surest way to answer critics is not with another press conference, but with another completed project,” the President stated.
Tinubu further noted that residents of the Federal Capital Territory were now experiencing development firsthand through improved road networks and other public infrastructure.

“There is an old saying that while words may inspire, concrete convinces. Across the FCT, Nigerians are not merely hearing about development; they are driving on it. They are walking through it. They are living in it. That is how governance should be measured,” he said.
In his remarks, Akpabio described the scale of projects executed within a short period as unprecedented, commending Nyesom Wike for driving rapid infrastructural transformation across the nation’s capital.
He assured the FCT Administration of the National Assembly’s continued support in providing the legislative backing and appropriations necessary to sustain infrastructure development.
“As legislators, we often pass appropriation bills. But every appropriation carries with it a sacred expectation—that somewhere, somehow, the figures on paper will become structures that improve human lives. Tonight, we have seen what happens when budgets become bridges, policies become pavements, and promises become projects,” Akpabio said.
The dinner was hosted by Wike to celebrate the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects undertaken by the FCT Administration over the past month
The 31-day commissioning exercise featured the inauguration and flag-off of numerous capital projects, including critical roads, bridges, water supply schemes, public buildings and other essential public utilities across Abuja’s city centre and the satellite communities.
The projects form part of the Tinubu administration’s broader efforts to modernise the Federal Capital Territory, improve public infrastructure and enhance service delivery for residents while expanding development to underserved communities beyond the city centre.
