APC failed to honour agreement on automatic ticket —Ned Nwoko
Senator Ned Nwoko has accused the All Progressives Congress of reneging on an alleged agreement to grant him an automatic ticket before he defected to the party, deepening concerns over internal disputes and power struggles within the APC ahead of future elections.
Speaking amid growing conversations surrounding party structures and candidate selection, Nwoko claimed he was assured of an automatic ticket as part of negotiations that preceded his move to the APC.
According to him, the understanding was later abandoned after he formally joined the ruling party.
“I was promised automatic ticket before I joined APC but they betrayed me,” the senator stated, expressing disappointment over what he described as a breach of trust by influential figures within the party.
He further alleged that internal political calculations and shifting alliances within the APC eventually altered the arrangement initially presented to him.
“I was assured before joining the party that my position and political future were secure, but after my defection, the story changed completely,” he said.

Although the senator did not mention specific individuals responsible for the alleged agreement, his comments have intensified speculation about internal divisions and competing interests within the APC, particularly as political realignments continue ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Political observers say the development reflects broader tensions in major political parties where negotiations surrounding defections, ticket allocations and power-sharing arrangements often generate controversy.
Analysts also note that disputes over automatic tickets have historically created friction within Nigerian political parties, with many party loyalists opposing preferential arrangements for defectors at the expense of long-standing members.
Nwoko’s remarks are expected to trigger reactions from party stakeholders, especially in Delta State where political alignments within the APC continue to evolve amid preparations for future elections.
The APC has yet to officially respond to the senator’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
