The political camp of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary held in Imo State, describing the exercise as a “sham” and demanding a fresh and more transparent process.

Supporters of Amaechi expressed strong reservations over the conduct of the primary, alleging irregularities and a lack of adherence to internal democratic procedures during the exercise.

They claimed that the process did not reflect the principles of fairness and transparency expected in a presidential primary, insisting that the outcome does not represent the will of party members.

According to members of the camp, the exercise was marred by alleged manipulation of delegate participation and procedural inconsistencies, prompting calls for the party leadership to cancel the results and conduct a new primary under stricter supervision.

The ADC has yet to issue an official response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics, is one of the high-profile aspirants associated with the party’s presidential race ahead of the next general election cycle.

Political observers note that disputes over internal party primaries are common in Nigeria, often leading to legal challenges, factional tensions, and calls for reconciliation within party structures.

The development adds to growing tensions within the ADC as parties across the country intensify preparations for upcoming elections.
