YWCA Ikorodu kickstarts a new era, targets societal welfare

The newly inducted members of Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) of the African Church Bethel Cathedral, Ikorodu have been charged to help illuminate the world by being bearers of the light of Jesus Christ.

The Cathedral Priest,the Rev’d Canon J.A Fapohunda gave the charge at a well attended Re-Dedication of YWCA Old Members and Enrolment of New Members, 2026 held at the Church in Ikorodu over the weekend.

Fapohunda cited the need for members to uphold the four fold life cardinals of the association targeted at ensuring a better world for all.

“YWCA stands rooted in these four fold life cardinals; which includes glorifiying of God in strong and healthy bodies, in the right use of our minds, in knowledge and worship of God in our spirits and showing of the love of God in all our relationships with others.”

Speaking after the rededication ceremony, Evangelist Ilubanwo Omobola .O the YWCA President ACBC Ikorodu also a pioneer member of the association stressed that all over the world YWCA is known for, “ promotion of spiritual, mental,social and physical welfare of the society and especially that of the body of Christ.

“YWCA is an international society found in many countries of the world, we are often involved in intervention roles for the advancement of the love of God through Christ our Lord”.

Ilubanwo added that the commitment to social responsibility is key for every members of the association.

The association’s Vice President,Mrs Bose Lambo-Abisuga a retired Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State House of Assembly Commission was quick to state that the task before YWCA is huge and well enshrined in its Motto: By love serve one another (Galatians 5:13), adding that the initiative birthed by Late Reverend Akanbi Bamisebi on April 4th 1982 is advancing the good cause and yielding good fruits that all can see.

She however, cited the significance of the big candle lightening, which according to her is a pointer for all inducted members to stand up and get counted as mothers, in bringing about a better world for all.

Sis.Adetayo Christianah O.Welfare Officer.
Also present are other members; Sis Eshinlokun Olofunke M, Evangelist Ogunwomoju Racheal, Sis. Agunloye Bada Oluwakemi and Sis. Kasimawo-Anifowose Abiodun.
