Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike has vowed to recover about $150 million he claims his predecessor Rotimi Amaechi spent, between December 1 and 18, 2014, to fund the APC elections.

Wike said this on Sunday during a church thanksgiving service for the recent Supreme Court judgement that upheld his election earlier upturned by the appeal court.

Many already believed Amaechi, who was President Buhari’s campaign helmsman, dug his hand into Rivers’ coffers to bankroll the APC campaign.

And in the line-up of corruption allegations against the former governor, now transport minister, the Wike administration also claimed Amaechi spent N83 million on a birthday dinner in honour of Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka in 2014.

In response to the $150-million allegation, Rivers APC challenged Wike to do more than allege

“Wike talks big and tough, but behind his tough-talking is a moronic coward. He will not advance that accusation beyond the comfort of his audience,” said the party’s publicity secretary, Chris Finebone.

According to Finebone, Wike’s deed is awaiting him, and when the time comes, he will give account. “If he is serious, let him go to court and summon Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. But you can be sure that he will not do that because that Amaechi is without blemish,” he said.

Counting his blessings on the Supreme Court ruling, Wike said he got prophecies ahead of the verdict confirming his victory. He also said if the verdict had gone the other way, he wouldn’t have contested for fear of bloodshed that could trailed the rerun.
