A renown critic of President Muhammadu Buhari and the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Bugaje, has formed new alliance with other notable stakeholders in the polity, who include former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfattah Ahmed, Professor Pat Utomi, Prof, Tunde Adeniran, and other on a rescue Nigeria mission in 2023.
Bagaje, on Tuesday, revealed the formation of a pan-Nigeria movement identified as ‘Rescue Nigeria Project’, which according to the former member of the House of Representatives, is committed to search for solutions on how to save the Nigerian state from being ruined by bad leadership.
Bugaje had in 2016, rejected an ambassadorial appointment by President Buhari, perhaps, in recognition of leading some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2015 general elections to the APC.
Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed of Kwara State, member of the national caucus, decried the intractable insecurity and economic hardship in the country. He declared that the time has come to change the narratives by putting in place mechanisms for credible leadership.
“Nigeria can only achieve this through the establishment of formidable platforms such as the Rescue Nigeria Project to galvanize, nurture and mentor the kind of visionary leadership Nigeria needs,” Governor Ahmed declared.
Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed indicated that the group may metamorphose into a political party in the future to kick out the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
A former Minister of Education, Professor Tunde Adeniran, expressed confidence in the capacity of the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) to save Nigeria and Nigerians, saying that President Muhamadu Buhari and the ruling APC are a monumental disaster.
“The leadership class, including himself, has disappointed the youths, who have become restive and calling for actions against many unanswered questions,” Adeniran had declared.
Prof. Pat Utomi, a political economist, governorship aspirant in Delta State in 2019, also noted that the Rescue Nigeria Project has come to genuinely save Nigeria. He advocated that the infamous title of being “poverty capital of the world” should get every Nigerian worried enough to join in the rescue mission.
Bugaje may be at the game he knows playing very well prelude to general elections. At the end, he may be found to be fronting for a presidential aspirant.
Prof. Pat Utomi has been known for having a recurring decimal in formation of alliances in the build up to general elections.
