After Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel, another talented manager is on the market as a free agent.

Tuchel’s contract was terminated just six games into the new season, following the Blues’ 0-1 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Despite the disappointing end to life at Stamford Bridge for the German Manager, Tuchel still has the reputation of being one of the best coaches in world football and would be a strong contender for any vacant Top club in Europe.

With many opportunities set to open up in the coming months, this article takes a look at some potential teams that could offer Tuchel a route back into football.

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig sacked manager Domenico Tedesco just hours before Tuchel’s departure was announced, so the former Chelsea boss could make a swift return to football.

Leipzig have assembled a bright and young squad including Christopher Nkunku and Josko Guardiola, who were on Chelsea’s transfer list this window, and Timo Werner, who left Stamford Bridge last summer.

However, the German team is said to be close to appointing former Dortmund boss Marco Rosa, although Tuchel’s availability would certainly give Leipzig something to think about.

Bayer Leverkusen

Another potential Tuchel return to Germany could come from Bayer Leverkusen, who have had a difficult start to the new season.

Gerardo Seoane led Leverkusen to a third-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, but his players have lost their opening four games of this season so far.

If Seoane were to leave Leverkusen, with talented players like Moussa Diaby and Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan from Chelsea, Tuchel would undoubtedly be a major candidate for the job.

Juventus

A move to Italy would be new ground for Tuchel, but the German manager would certainly be tempted if a place at Juventus became available.

The club have struggled in Serie A recently under Massimiliano Allegri and finished fourth last season, but are currently in seventh place in the new campaign.

Given that the Old Lady is still desperate to maintain its status as one of the heavyweights of Italian football, it would be a wise decision to recruit a Champions League winner like Tuchel if Allegri were to be sacked.

Sevilla

Although some believe a move to Sevilla would be a step down for Tuchel, the Spanish team will be getting rid of Julen Lopetegui, which could free up a spot in the team currently playing in the Champions League.

For Tuchel, a La Liga club would be something he may not really consider at the moment, as Sevilla could be a long way from seriously threatening Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the table.

However, if Tuchel wants to make a quick return to football in a country where he has never been manager before, Sevilla would surely welcome him with open arms.

German national team

Germany have enjoyed a resurgence under Hansi Flick since he was hired after they were knocked out in the round of 16 at Euro 2020.

The former world champions are unbeaten in 13 games under Flick’s leadership and Flick has two years left on his contract.

However, football is a volatile sport and poor results in the upcoming World Cup could lead to Flick being relieved of his duties, which would likely make Tuchel the favourite.
