Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has expressed his appreciation to Paris Saint-Germain and club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi for their cooperation in releasing Achraf Hakimi early for international duty.

The Atlas Lions’ vice-captain is set to make his return from an ankle injury in Morocco’s AFCON 2025 qualifying match against Zambia, a timely boost for Regragui’s side.

Speaking to the media, Regragui revealed that PSG allowed Hakimi to join the national team almost 15 days ahead of schedule, a gesture he described as a sign of mutual trust between the French champions and Morocco’s medical staff.

“We would like to thank PSG and President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi,” Regragui said. “They showed great understanding and confidence in our medical team by releasing Achraf early. This cooperation played a key role in ensuring his smooth and timely return.”

Hakimi’s availability comes as a major lift for Morocco, with the dynamic right-back considered one of the team’s most influential players as they continue their qualification campaign for the continental showpiece.
