Suspected bandits have abducted a Baptist Church cleric, Pastor Daniel Bagama, along with his three daughters during a late-night attack on Tudun Bussa village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The abduction was confirmed in a letter issued by the Conference President of the Kaduna Baptist Conference, Rev. Ishaya Adamu Jangado, and copied to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

In the letter, Rev. Jangado formally notified church authorities of the incident, describing it as a distressing development for the Christian community in the state.

“I write to inform you that bandits have abducted a Baptist Church Pastor, Pastor Daniel Bagama, and his three daughters at Tudun Bussa village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State,” the letter stated.

According to Rev. Jangado, the incident occurred late on Sunday night, January 18, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m., when armed men reportedly stormed the village.

A source familiar with the incident said the attackers arrived in the area and fired sporadically, creating panic among residents, before proceeding to Pastor Bagama’s residence where he and his daughters were taken away.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by security agencies regarding the abduction or any ongoing rescue efforts.

However, the Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji Bawa, confirmed the incident when contacted, describing it as another troubling episode in the persistent insecurity affecting parts of the state.

Attempts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, for comments were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone were not answered.

The abduction has heightened concerns among residents and religious leaders in the area, as communities in parts of Kaduna State continue to grapple with repeated attacks, kidnappings and other security challenges.
