Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have called for any congressional testimony regarding their connections to Jeffrey Epstein to be conducted in public hearings, citing concerns about potential politicization of the proceedings.

The Clintons issued the request as congressional committees consider investigations into various public figures’ associations with the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

“We believe that transparency is the best disinfectant,” a spokesperson for the Clintons said in a statement. “Public hearings will ensure that facts are presented in full context and prevent selective leaks or partisan manipulation of testimony.”

Bill Clinton has previously acknowledged flying on Epstein’s private aircraft on several occasions in the early 2000s for charitable work related to the Clinton Foundation, though he has denied knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities and stated he had not spoken to Epstein in over a decade before his arrest.

The request for public testimony represents an unusual move, as witnesses typically prefer private sessions to avoid media scrutiny. Legal analysts suggest the Clintons may be seeking to control the narrative and prevent the drip-feed of information that could emerge from closed-door sessions.

Congressional leaders have not yet responded to the request, and it remains unclear whether committees will schedule hearings or what format they might take. The scope of any potential investigation into Epstein’s connections with prominent figures continues to be debated on Capitol Hill.

Epstein’s case has generated widespread public interest and conspiracy theories, with numerous high-profile individuals from business, politics, and entertainment having been photographed with or documented as having some connection to the financier over the years.
