Champions League round of 16 draw sets up blockbuster European clashes

The draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 was conducted on Friday, producing a series of high-profile encounters as Europe’s elite clubs continue their quest for continental glory.

Among the standout fixtures is a heavyweight showdown between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, a repeat of last year’s Club World Cup final.

The clash is expected to be one of the most closely watched ties of the round, given the pedigree and recent history of both sides.

Premier League contenders Arsenal have been handed a tricky test against German outfit Bayer Leverkusen, while defending champions Real Madrid will renew their rivalry with Manchester City in what promises to be another thrilling encounter between two European powerhouses.

Elsewhere, Italian side Atalanta face six-time winners Bayern Munich, while Atletico Madrid square off against Tottenham Hotspur.

In other fixtures, Newcastle United will battle Spanish giants Barcelona, and Turkish champions Galatasaray take on Premier League leaders Liverpool. Portuguese side Sporting CP are drawn against Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt.
