Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly criticised Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh following a viral video showing her conducting a deliverance session during a visit to a school.

The controversy began after Dikeh shared several clips on Friday, March 6, 2026, documenting what she described as a spiritual experience during an evangelism outreach at the school.

In the videos posted across her social media platforms, the actress explained that she and members of her team were preparing to leave the school premises when she sensed what she described as a “spirit of death” around the area.

According to Dikeh, the feeling prompted her to alert members of her team, after which they began praying. The prayers later escalated into what she described as a deliverance session involving some of the students present at the school.

The videos quickly spread across social media platforms, triggering mixed reactions from users. While some supporters commended the actress for engaging in spiritual outreach and prayers for the students, others questioned the appropriateness of conducting such sessions in a school environment and sharing the footage online.

Reacting to the viral clips, VeryDarkMan strongly criticised the development, accusing the actress of turning a sensitive situation involving children into online content rather than providing practical support for the students.

The social media critic also warned the actress against repeating such activities at the school, stating that the institution is located within his community.

In his reaction, he argued that children in disadvantaged communities should not be exposed to what he described as dramatic spiritual displays on social media.

VeryDarkMan further stated that instead of organising public deliverance sessions, celebrities and philanthropists should focus on initiatives that offer tangible support to students, such as improving school infrastructure and providing educational resources.

He also claimed to have personally contributed to the development of the school by renovating parts of the facility in order to motivate and support the students.

“With all due respect to Tonto Dikeh… this is a warning: do not come to my area to do this again. Leave the kids in my community alone,” he wrote in a strongly worded social media post.

The incident has continued to generate debate online, with some users defending Dikeh’s actions as part of her faith-based outreach, while others agree with VeryDarkMan that children should not be involved in publicly broadcast spiritual deliverance sessions.

As of the time of filing this report, Dikeh had not issued any further response to the criticism following the circulation of the video and the ensuing backlash.
