The Police Service Commission has announced the promotion of a significant number of senior police officers, elevating 13 commissioners of police (CP) to assistant inspector-general of police (AIG) and advancing numerous other officers across key ranks within the force.
In a statement released on Thursday, PSC spokesperson Torty Njoku Kalu said the promotions were awarded following “successful performance in the recently concluded written examinations and oral interviews.”
Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIG): 13 CPs promoted, including:
Emmanuel Ado Christopher (former CP, Yobe State)
Joseph Eribo (former CP, Ekiti State)
Dantawaye Miller (former CP, FCT)
Uche Ifeanyi Henry, PhD (Director, NPF National Cyber Crime Center)
Haruna Olufemi (former CP, Oyo State)

Commissioners of Police (CP): 17 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) promoted to CP, including:
Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu (Commander NIWA, Lokoja)

Ibrahim Ada Yusuf (AC Idu Railway Abuja)
Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP): 35 chief superintendents of police (CSPs) elevated to ACP.
Kalu quoted Hashimu Salihu Argungu, PSC chairman, congratulating the promoted officers and noting that the advancements provide an opportunity for them to make greater contributions to the force.
“The promotions recognize the competence and dedication of our officers and ensure that experienced personnel continue to lead strategic units and departments across the country,” Argungu said.
The promotions cover officers in critical areas such as the Anti-Fraud and Cyber Crime Units, maritime policing, community policing, and disaster management. By elevating officers with diverse expertise, the PSC aims to strengthen operational efficiency and leadership across the Nigeria Police Force.
The PSC said the full list of promoted officers would be published on its official platform, reinforcing transparency and public confidence in the personnel management of the force.
These moves follow ongoing efforts by the PSC to ensure merit-based promotions and to align leadership across various policing units with the evolving security needs of the country.
