Former England national football team midfielder Joe Cole has tipped Arsenal F.C. to defeat Manchester City F.C. in what is shaping up to be a blockbuster EFL Cup Final clash on Sunday.

The encounter between two of the Premier League’s top sides will determine the first major domestic trophy winner of the season and is expected to draw global attention.

Arsenal secured their place in the final after overcoming Chelsea F.C. 4–2 on aggregate in a high-scoring semi-final tie.

Manchester City, meanwhile, advanced by defeating Newcastle United F.C., continuing their strong cup form under manager Pep Guardiola.

Speaking on The Dressing Room podcast, Cole said he believes Arsenal have the edge despite City’s formidable reputation.

“I watched Man City lately, and I still think Arsenal will beat them,” he said.

The former midfielder added that the match promises to be entertaining for neutral fans, given the attacking quality and tactical sophistication of both teams.

Beyond the football itself, Cole predicted tensions could spill over on the sidelines.

“It’s going to be a great game for neutrals,” he noted, before adding,

“I also predict there will be some rough stuff between the Arsenal and City benches.”

Analysts say cup finals often produce emotionally charged encounters, particularly when elite teams with title ambitions face off for silverware.

For Arsenal, victory would represent a significant milestone in their quest to re-establish themselves as dominant trophy contenders domestically.

Manchester City, on the other hand, will aim to extend their recent success in English competitions and secure an early-season title that could boost momentum for further honours.

With star players on both sides and contrasting tactical styles, pundits expect a tightly contested match that could hinge on individual brilliance, defensive discipline, or late drama.

Supporters and neutrals alike are anticipating a high-quality spectacle, with both clubs boasting deep squads and attacking firepower.

As kickoff approaches, attention will focus not only on the battle on the pitch but also on the psychological duel between the managers and technical teams.

Whether Cole’s prediction proves accurate will be revealed when the two giants collide in what promises to be one of the season’s most captivating fixtures.
