Veteran American martial artist and Hollywood action star Chuck Norris, widely known for his iconic role in the television series Walker, Texas Ranger, has died at the age of 86, his family announced on Friday.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the family expressed deep sorrow over his passing, revealing that the actor died suddenly on Thursday morning.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” the statement read. “He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.”
Reports indicate that Norris fell ill while on the Hawaiian island of Kauai shortly before his death.
Just a week earlier, the martial arts icon had celebrated his 86th birthday, sharing a video of himself boxing on social media with the caption, “I don’t age. I level up,” reflecting the resilience and vitality that defined his public image.

Norris, a highly respected martial artist before transitioning into acting, built a remarkable career spanning decades in film and television. He made his acting debut with a cameo appearance in the 1968 film The Wrecking Crew, starring Dean Martin.
His breakthrough came in 1972 when he starred alongside kung fu legend Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon. The memorable fight scene between the two actors became one of the most celebrated moments in martial arts cinema and helped cement Norris’ status as a global action star.
