The United States has revealed that senior leaders of Iran’s military are sheltering in deep bunkers, leaving their frontline troops vulnerable to attacks.

Admiral Brad Cooper, head of the US Central Command, made the disclosure in an interview with Iran International on Sunday.

He said that while Iran’s top generals remain protected in fortified facilities, soldiers on the ground are exposed to ongoing American and Israeli airstrikes.

“What I’d like everyone to note is that I’ve watched this over the last week,” Cooper said. “This extraordinary contrast between the comfort and protection that you’re seeing with the senior generals in the Islamic Republic, at least those that are still alive, who are up in deep bunkers and facilities in and around Tehran. And contrast that with the soldiers who are down on the ground who are unprotected. The generals are protected. The soldiers are not protected.”

The revelation underscores the stark disparity between Iran’s military leadership and its frontline forces amid escalating tensions in the region. Analysts suggest that the situation may affect troop morale and operational effectiveness, as frontline units face heightened risk while senior commanders remain insulated.

Experts also note that such protective measures for high-ranking officials are not uncommon in modern conflicts, but the visible contrast with exposed ground troops could fuel criticism of Iran’s military strategy and command decisions.

The situation comes amid continued US and Israeli military operations targeting Iranian-backed positions in the region, heightening concerns over the human cost of ongoing hostilities.
