Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season, drawing the curtain on one of the most successful individual spells in the club’s modern history.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward made the announcement in a video shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday evening, signaling the beginning of his farewell to the Anfield faithful.
“Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell,” Salah said in the clip. “I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”
Liverpool also released an official statement confirming the development, noting that Salah opted to make his decision public early out of respect for supporters.
According to the club, the forward requested to communicate his intentions in advance to ensure transparency and to properly acknowledge the fans who have supported him throughout his tenure.
The statement further revealed that Salah’s departure would involve an early termination of his contract.
Since arriving from AS Roma in June 2017, Salah has evolved into one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players, playing a central role in the club’s resurgence on both domestic and international fronts.

During his time at Anfield, he helped Liverpool secure multiple major honours, including the Premier League title, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, and two EFL Cup titles, as well as the FA Community Shield.
Individually, Salah’s impact has been equally remarkable. The prolific forward has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for the Reds, placing him third on the club’s all-time goalscorers list.
He has also claimed the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions, alongside numerous other individual accolades.
Salah’s impending departure marks the end of an era for Liverpool, where he has been a talismanic figure and a fan favourite for nearly a decade. His consistency, goal-scoring prowess, and influence in key matches have cemented his legacy as one of the club’s modern greats.
While the club has yet to disclose Salah’s next destination, his announcement is expected to spark widespread speculation over his future, with top clubs across Europe and beyond likely to monitor the situation closely.
As the season progresses, attention will now turn to how Liverpool and their departing star navigate the remainder of the campaign, with supporters set to bid an emotional farewell to one of the most iconic players in the club’s history.
