Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Greg Etafia has revealed that Stanley Nwabali already has multiple offers lined up and is expected to join a new club once the season concludes.

Nwabali left Chippa United by mutual consent following the January transfer window, a move that caught many fans by surprise. Etafia, who has worked closely with the goalkeeper, explained that Nwabali had wanted to leave earlier during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco but was unable to do so because the club did not approve a move at the time.

“He told me he had many offers during the tournament but couldn’t make a move due to club restrictions,” Etafia said. He added that another goalkeeper, Dumisani Msibi, performed well in Nwabali’s absence, which further influenced the situation, leading to a mutual agreement for the player to leave.

Etafia confirmed that Nwabali is patiently waiting for the season to end before making a decision on his next destination.

The former Super Eagles coach also expressed surprise that Nwabali was not included in the current national squad, noting that the omission came despite his significant contributions since making his debut in 2024. “The goalkeepers invited are actively playing for their clubs, but I believe Nwabali still deserved a place in the squad,” Etafia said.

Since his debut, Nwabali has helped Nigeria secure two Africa Cup of Nations medals, underscoring his continued value to the national team.
