The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to conduct transparent elections during the governorship election in Anambra State on November 6, 2021.
The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye Esq., in a statement in Abuja disclosed the commission’s unwavering determination to conduct a credible election in Anambra State.
The national commissioner stated that the commission has sustained consultative meetings with leaders of registered political parties and other stakeholders deliberating on the modalities of holding credible elections in Anambra State.
Okoye stated that in the preparations for the conduct of Anambra State governorship election slated for November 6, 2021, the commission in line with the timetable and schedule of activities for the election released on January 19, 2021, has implemented two additional activities on October 7. According to the INEC national commissioner, the final register of Voters for the Anambra governorship election was presented to the 18 Registered Political Parties participating in the election at the headquarters of the Commission in Awka, Anambra State. Furthermore, the commission released the final list of candidates for the election and has pasted the same in the state office of the commission in Awka. The list has also been uploaded to the commission’s website and social media platforms.
In its unwavering determination to conduct a credible election, the commission October 8, held an emergency consultative meeting with the leadership of all the registered political parties in Nigeria at the commission’s Headquarters, Abuja on October 8.
INEC, therefore, assured the people of Anambra State of the commission’s resolve to secure the preparation processes for the conduct of the governorship election and ensure that their right to vote in a safe and secure environment is guaranteed.
