The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called on women and residents of the state to prioritize their health and overall wellbeing as a foundation for productive and fulfilling lives.

Dr. Soludo made the appeal during a public engagement focused on promoting a culture of wellness across the state. She emphasized the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices that encompass regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate self-care.

The First Lady stressed that good health is not merely the absence of disease but a holistic state of physical, mental, and emotional wellness that requires intentional effort and commitment.

“I urge all our women and residents to make their health a priority. Your wellbeing is your greatest asset, and investing in it will enable you to better serve your families, communities, and the state at large,” Dr. Soludo said.

She highlighted the need for women, in particular, to break the pattern of neglecting their own health while caring for others. Many women, she noted, often prioritize the needs of their families and households at the expense of their own physical and mental health, a tendency that can lead to long-term health complications.

Dr. Soludo encouraged residents to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily routines, emphasizing that exercise does not necessarily require expensive gym memberships or equipment. Simple activities such as walking, jogging, dancing, or home-based exercises can significantly improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress, and boost overall energy levels.

On nutrition, the First Lady advocated for balanced diets rich in locally available fruits, vegetables, and whole foods while reducing consumption of processed foods high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats. She noted that proper nutrition plays a critical role in preventing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

Beyond physical health, Dr. Soludo also addressed the importance of mental and emotional wellbeing. She encouraged residents to practice stress management techniques, seek support when facing emotional challenges, and create time for rest and relaxation amid busy schedules.

The First Lady’s advocacy aligns with broader public health initiatives in Anambra State aimed at improving healthcare access, promoting preventive health measures, and raising awareness about lifestyle-related diseases.

Dr. Soludo’s message has been well received by community leaders and health advocates, who have praised her efforts to champion wellness and inspire residents to take proactive steps toward healthier living.

As part of ongoing wellness programs, the Anambra State government continues to organize health screenings, fitness activities, and educational campaigns designed to promote healthy lifestyles across communities throughout the state.
