Fifty-five of the 57 All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidates for the upcoming July 12 local government elections in Lagos State have emerged following the party’s primary election held on Saturday in Ikeja.

According to the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala, a total of 1,539 delegates were expected to vote across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) of the state.

However, primaries were not conducted in Yaba LCDA and Mainland LCDA due to pending litigation and the absence of delegates, leaving their candidacies unresolved.

Ogala disclosed that while four candidates emerged via consensus, 51 others were elected through delegate voting, with 27 delegates casting ballots per council.

He affirmed the exercise was conducted transparently and in line with party guidelines.

Candidates that emerged through consensus include Isa Jubril (Iba LCDA), Motunrayo Gbadebo (Ijede LCDA), Rasaq Kasali (Lekki LCDA), and Azeez Kareem (Otto Awori LCDA).
