Stakeholders in the Nigerian project have continued to express apprehension over the perceived agenda for the establishment of Islamic Republic in Nigeria, purportedly by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This, they observed, is being given currency by the controversies over the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The stakeholders articulated that several enlightened and credible statesmen from diverse backgrounds have offered information that “the creation of an Islamic state is the common thread that runs through much of the bizarre incidences we have been witnessing in the last few years in the country.” They cited warnings by prominent elder statesmen over the years.
According to the stakeholders, “former President Olusegun Obasanjo,” had said, “there is a fulanization and islamization Agenda in Nigeria and West Africa.
“Our problems are “… no longer an issue of lack of education and lack of employment for our youths in Nigeria which it began as. It is now West African Fulanisation, African Islamisation and global organised crimes of human trafficking…
“Buhari must tackle these issues “without favouritism or cuddling.”
Also, General Theophilus Danjuma had said: “the army is colluding with the bandits to carry out ethnic cleansing in Nigeria. If you are depending on the armed forces to defend you, you will all die one by one.”
Former Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, a defence intelligence expert with 35 years’ experience in the Nigerian military and Professor of Global security studies, was cited to have started: “Top ranking officials in Aso Rock and the National assembly are determined to have an Afghanistan and Taliban style Islamic government in Nigeria no matter the cost.
“Government is not determined to contain Boko Haram and bandits as their sponsors are in the highest levels of government.”
The kidnapped Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Samuel Kanu-Uche, was also noted to have read a message from Fulani fighters to him, indicating: “We (Fulani fighters) are in the bushes of southwest, south-south and southeast waiting for a signal to finish the people of the south.
“Nigeria belongs to us, the Fulani. We will finish you people and take over the land that belongs to us.”
Prelate Samuel Kanu-Uche was cited to have declared: “the army knows where they are and is shielding them.”
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mailafia, was recalled to have died after warning that his life was being threatened following his revelation that, “Boko haram and the bandits are working towards a Jihad to ensure Nigeria becomes an Islamic state from 2022.”
Professor of Archeology, Professor Zacharys Gundu, was also cited to have declared: “The Fulani herdsmen killings make sense to the Fulani as they are attempts to grab land from the people of Nigeria for the Fulani of the whole world.
“Nigeria has become the presently preferred homeland for Fulani across the world to come and claim as their own country.”
The stakeholders warned that the “Emirate of Lagos loading, Emirate of Imo loading, Emirate of Bayelsa loading, Emirate of Plateau loading, Emirate of Benue loading…”
They called on Nigerians to be alert, saying: “do not bury your head in the sand like the Ostrich and hope that this shall pass you by.”
